C come Costanza/Constancy
Costanza. When love takes over. It’s been such a long day.

C come Costanza/Constancy Constancy. A sheet of paper to write on. A microphone to touch. A song to listen to—likely not even the right one. A glass of wine. Everything slowly shifts. Is this okay? Does it make sense this way? Can it be done differently? Has the process been set in motion? The paper stays on the table, the microphone records, the song returns. There remains the space separating two points—let’s call them point A and point B (followed by point C, point D, and so on; and there is no guarantee it ends at point Z, because then it starts all over: point A1, point B1, and so on to infinity; the system keeps going, requiring no human presence). When love takes over. Irregular lines, curves, intersecting planes, openings, voids, further and unpredictable spaces. A minimal archive, a corrected image (perhaps). A phone call, a forty-five-minute journey, a meeting, an occasion filed under “seized opportunities” and another under “missed opportunities.” Then another cataloged as seized and another as missed—a continuous stream of occasions, another phone call, a painting, ten paintings, paintings beyond counting. Further and unpredictable spaces, as mentioned. Or at least that’s what they say, and there isn’t really a better time or way to say it. Meanwhile, though, thoughts drifted elsewhere. Without necessity. Elsewhere. Just like that. It’s been such a long day. Every now and then, something would arrive out of the blue. Another sheet of paper. Another microphone. Another song. Without making any admissions, without crossing any thresholds, without engaging with anything other than what one wanted to engage with. Sometimes it felt as though one had always been trying (as complicated as you like, but that’s how it had always been). We were recording attempts, repetitions (with the occasional significant variation). In the meantime, we kept ourselves busy—we were always busy, we have always been busy, always taken up with
