Bandiera Rossa. Da bambina ho frequentato molte manifestazioni, con i miei genitori ed amici grandi e piccini. Erano gli anni 70, la Torino “tutto fabbriche e operai” era ardente. Un giorno – non avrò avuto più di cinque anni – sono andata con mia nonna dalla sua parrucchiera. Mentre aspettavo che le facessero la piega, seduta tra le clienti in attesa, mi sono messa a cantare Bandiera Rossa. Una signora, un po’ turbata, mi ha chiesto: “Ma tuo papà è comunista?!”. “No”, ho risposto, “È architetto.”

Red Flag. As a child, I attended many demonstrations with my parents and friends, both young and old. It was the 1970s, and Turin, a city of factories and workers, was abuzz. One day—I couldn’t have been more than five years old—I went with my grandmother to her hairdresser. While waiting for her hair to be done, sitting among the waiting customers, I started singing “Red Flag.” A lady, a little perturbed, asked me, “Is your dad a communist?” “No,” I replied, “He’s an architect.”
