Parola d’Artista:Che importanza e che ruolo ha il disegno nel tuo lavoro?

Marina Paris: Il disegno per me  è uno strumento e come tale è trasversale.

E’ il mezzo di espressione più spontaneo, libero ed universale che possa esserci,

è momento meditativo e progettuale, è studio ed immaginazione.

Ha la capacità di combinare caratteristiche e metodologie diverse: scrittura, documentazione, improvvisazione, pianificazione, concettualizzazione. Può essere segno spontaneo ed automatico, ma anche tecnico e strutturato.

Grazie al disegno l’artista libera e manifesta l’immaginazione, visualizza le proprie idee, si connette con gli altri, e credo sinceramente che questa modalità sia la stessa che smuova il lavoro di un architetto , di un  industrial design, di uno scenografo, di uno stilista , di un disegnatore meccanico.. disegnare per rendere visibile il proprio pensiero.

Il mio recente progetto “Connecting space 2018-2023” (50 disegni in bianco e nero) costituisce una riflessione sul rapporto dell’uomo con lo spazio. Esso nasce dall’esigenza di collegare e trasformare documenti , da me raccolti negli anni, legati al mondo dell’architettura: foto, manifesti, cartoline, brochure, testi… e proprio attraverso il disegno, questo progetto è diventato altro, una  nuova narrazione, commista di storicità e contemporaneità, fatta di spazi reali e spazi metaforici in una continua oscillazione tra passato e presente.

Parola d’Artista: What importance and role does drawing play in your work?

Marina Paris: Drawing for me is a tool and as such is transversal.

It is the most spontaneous, free and universal means of expression there can be,

it is a meditative and design moment, it is study and imagination.

It has the capacity to combine different characteristics and methodologies: writing, documentation, improvisation, planning, conceptualisation. It can be spontaneous and automatic sign, but also technical and structured.

Thanks to drawing, the artist frees and manifests his imagination, visualises his ideas, connects with others, and I sincerely believe that this modality is the same that moves the work of an architect, an industrial designer, a set designer, a stylist, a mechanical draughtsman… drawing to make his thoughts visible.

My recent project ‘Connecting space 2018-2023’ (50 black and white drawings) is a reflection on man’s relationship with space. It stems from the need to connect and transform documents I have collected over the years related to the world of architecture: photos, posters, postcards, brochures, texts… and it is precisely through drawing that this project has become something else, a new narrative, mixed with historicity and contemporaneity, made up of real spaces and metaphorical spaces in a continuous oscillation between past and present.
