Ho pensato a lungo a cosa sia per me il mio studio, e non è facile rispondere. Innanzi tutto perché lo studio non è un luogo separato dal mio quotidiano e dove devo andare, perché il mio studio è, letteralmente, la mia casa, che per metà è dedicata al mio lavoro. Ciò che più si avvicina al senso che dò a questo luogo, l’ho trovato in alcune righe di Rodolfo Wilcock, che si chiamano “Spazio” e recitano così:
Nella mia stanza non c’è nulla,
tranne il fonografo e il letto:
e anche nel cuore non c’è nulla
tranne un figlio da me diverso.
Così c’è spazio per muoversi
sia nel cuore che nella stanza;
[…]
Un vuoto che, come nel pensiero orientale, va inteso come “aperto”, infinitamente aperto, comunicante e libero.
Uno spazio di silenzio, dove potersi fermare e crescere.

I have thought for a long time about what my studio is for me, and it is not easy to answer. First of all because the studio is not a place separate from my daily life and where I have to go, because my studio is, literally, my home, half of which is dedicated to my work. What comes closest to the sense I give to this place, I found in some lines by Rodolfo Wilcock, which are called ‘Space’ and go like this:
In my room there is nothing,
except the phonograph and the bed:
and also in my heart there is nothing
except a son who is different from me.
So there is room to move
both in the heart and in the room;
[…]
An emptiness that, as in Eastern thought, should be understood as ‘open’, infinitely open, communicating and free.
A space of silence, where one can stop and grow.
