Parola d’Artista: Che importanza e che ruolo ha nel tuo lavoro il disegno?
Luisa Rabbia: Il ritmo scandito dall’atto del disegnare sembra essere per me essenziale per sentirmi nella condizione ideale per creare.
Nel corso degli anni ho esplorato veramente molte possibilità di espressione attraverso l’accumularsi di linee che da un piccolo foglio di carta si sono estese su grandi formati e materiali diversi. Ho disegnato su sculture di cartapesta, ceramiche dalle grandi dimensioni che si estendono nello spazio, animazioni video e dipinti su tela, prima con matite colorate (raggiungendo formati fino a 3×6 metri) e poi con pittura a olio in cui la linea del disegno anziché accumulare ha inciso e sottratto.

Parola d’Artista: What importance and role does drawing play in your work?
Luisa Rabbia: The rhythm marked by the act of drawing seems to be essential for me to feel in the ideal condition to create.
Over the years I have really explored many possibilities of expression through the accumulation of lines that from a small sheet of paper have extended onto large formats and different materials. I have drawn on papier-mâché sculptures, large-scale ceramics that extend into space, video animations and paintings on canvas, first with coloured pencils (reaching formats of up to 3×6 metres) and then with oil paint in which the line of the drawing instead of accumulating has etched and subtracted.
