Parola d’Artista: Che importanza e che ruolo ha nel tuo lavoro il disegno?

Andrea Chiesi: Il disegno è il primo sguardo, l’osservazione della realtà esterna che ci circonda e l’esplorazione del mondo interiore nascosto. Disegnare significa capire la struttura delle cose e avvicinarsi al nostro profondo immateriale e spirituale.

Il disegno è pratica preparatoria, ma soprattutto è un atto creativo liberatorio, pienamente compiuto. Il disegno ha acquisito una completa autonomia rispetto alle altre tecniche, non è più considerato soltanto propedeutico ad altre forme espressive, ma è a pieno titolo una forma artistica espressiva completa, scelta per la sua immediatezza e versatilità, perché permette una esecuzione rapida, istintiva, essenziale, la più vicina allo stato emozionale che si vuole rappresentare.

Il disegno sviluppa la ginnastica dello sguardo, il coordinamento tra occhio cervello e mano, permette di studiare l’equilibrio delle forme, la prospettiva, il senso dell’inquadratura, per imparare ad osservare in profondità e con discernimento.

Il disegno è l’attitudine primigenia dell’artista, che guarda il mondo, lo assorbe e lo rigenera, attraverso il proprio stato emotivo, in forma di segno.

Parola d’Artista: What importance and role does drawing play in your work?
Andrea Chiesi: Drawing is the first glance, the observation of the external reality that surrounds us and the exploration of the hidden inner world. Drawing means understanding the structure of things and getting closer to our immaterial and spiritual depths.
Drawing is a preparatory practice, but above all it is a liberating, fully realised creative act. Drawing has acquired a complete autonomy with respect to other techniques, it is no longer considered merely preparatory to other forms of expression, but is in its own right a complete expressive artistic form, chosen for its immediacy and versatility, because it allows for a rapid, instinctive, essential execution, the closest to the emotional state one wishes to represent.
Drawing develops the gymnastics of the gaze, the co-ordination between eye, brain and hand, it allows one to study the balance of forms, perspective, the sense of framing, to learn to observe in depth and with discernment.
Drawing is the primal attitude of the artist, who looks at the world, absorbs it and regenerates it, through his own emotional state, in the form of a sign.
